1920's Gruen Ladie's Cartouche Deco Wristwatch, SALE $225.00

This used, vintage Swiss made Gruen ladie's wrist watch is a classic example of art deco design. This exquisite timepiece is presented in a 14-karat gold filled and reinforced case.

We estimate the date of this timepiece to be approximately 1929 given the design and research into similar models. If you are shopping for these types of watches, you will often note that sellers have attributed the 15-jewel movement to the Rolex watch company which worked in conjunction with Gruen on some of these earlier models. We cannot verify that the movement is indeed a Rolex-made movement, but can certainly attest to the fine craftsmanship and design that this vintage timepiece represents.

This movement is in excellent running condition. It winds perfectly and has always kept good time during our ownership. Please see photo gallery for an up-close shot of the movement.

The dial is in wonderful condition for the age of the watch.

The case is also in very good condition. We have tried to include as many photos as possible in order for the prospective buyer to see the detail here.

The band may or may not be the original silk band of the time. There are frayed edges on the band; to be expected with the age we are talking about. Note the decorative clasps.

The crystal has a very small crack on the lower right corner.

Ultimately, this is an excellent example that is not to be missed. Whether you are a collector or just want a beautiful watch to wear on those special occasions, this watch fits the bill.
